A basic education offers deep and wide returns for health and economic growth. Africa Schoolhouse believes that in order to educate children; they must have proper nutrition, healthcare and community support. By offering the following, we strive to create collaborative environmental, social, and economic strategies to help build sustainable schools:

Nutritious meals at school: For many children, this may be their only hot meal of the day.

Medical dispensary: One out of every five children in Africa will die from malaria before the age of five. This is preventable.

A well: In Sub-Saharan Africa, water is a precious and scarce commodity. A well supports the additional need for drinking water created by the school.

Teacher training and housing: To attract quality faculty and  ensure consistency of the curriculum.

Sanitary toilets: To combat disease.

Text books and school supplies: Books, pens, paper and chalk are not available. We will provide the supplies that are essential for learning.

Uniforms: Clothing and shoes for school are often not within the villager’s reach; these basics bring a sense of accomplishment and pride to the students.

Solar power: Electricity is currently nonexistent in most of rural Africa.

Brick-making machine: This will help build the school and provide significant income for the village.

Adult education: Many have never had an opportunity for even a primary education.

After-school education: Africa Schoolhouse supports incorporating local cultural teaching into the curriculum.

Jobs: The building process creates employment opportunities and provides skill training for villagers.
